Extended Schools Programme – Physical Theatre Workshop

On Saturday 12 November we were delighted to welcome Physical Theatre performers from St Mary’s University Twickenham and Los Banditos to lead a workshop with some of our Theatre students.

The workshop was led by two professional practitioners of Physical Theatre, who also teach and direct on St Mary’s programmes. During the workshop, students were presented with exercises focussing on rhythm, games, clowning and improvisation, to discover techniques of devising and expanding sensitivity, awareness, spontaneity and the ability to work as an ensemble (and they played

with sticks!)

The tutors were also happy to talk to our students about studying Theatre and Drama and gave advice to those interested in future careers in the performing arts.

It was such a treat to see our students exploring new skills and attempting the challenges with such enthusiasm. We were impressed by the quality of our students work, in particular our Junior students who show exciting promise for the future.
