Choir
The School Choir has around 45 members and performs at Flag Services, Carol Services and other venues. On February 12th they depart for Paris for a series of performances including a concert at Disneyland!
The Choir rehearses after school on Thursdays and on Friday Lunchtimes.
Thursday – 5-6pm and Friday 1:10-1:40pm
Jazz Band
The Jazz Band has a big line-up of Saxophones and Trumpets as well as a cool rhythm-section. They rehearse on Tuesday Lunchtimes.
Rock Band
Students can take part in organized Rock Groups on Wednesday Afternoons. Under the guidance of our dedicated professional tutors the real fanatics can spend up to 3 hours being trained in how to play Rock Music. Of course it is possible to rehearse at other times as well! There are a number of events through the year, but the highlight is “Rock Night”. This takes place at the end of the Spring Term. Last Year we had 49 students playing in 18 different Rock Groups!
Junior Rock Band
Like the other Rock Bands but for Years 7-9. They rehearse on Thursday Afternoons
String Group
Lead by our Violin Teacher, this ensemble rehearses on Friday Afternoons.
Barbershop Group
An all-male vocal group, the Barbershop Bad Boys rehearse numbers for specific events. Their next performances will be in Paris.
Senior Production.
In 2009, the drama production for Years 10 – 13 was, for the first time in many years, a Musical. This is a tradition that we intend to continue. Auditions take place at the start of the Autumn Term and rehearsals are intensive up until the performances in late November.
Junior Production.
Although not strictly a Musical, this production by the Drama Department usually contains some musical elements and many opportunities for singing.
Music Technology
This is a group run by our Music Tech Specialist, Mr. Rayner. The department is equipped with over 20 Apple iMacs running Sibelius, Cubase VST and Garage Band. We also have a Professional Recording Studio. Students learn to compose, arrange and record using the very latest technology. This Group meets on Friday Afternoons.
Music Practice
This can be done at any time of the day! The Department is open from 7am to 9.30 pm so there can be no excuses!
